The Johan Cruyff ArenA, the home ground of AFC Ajax, is Amsterdam's main football stadium. Discover it on this tour with an audio guide in English.
“Playing soccer is very simple, but playing simple soccer is the hardest thing there is.” This quote from Johan Cruyff reflects the personality and philosophy of this soccer genius. After his death, the stadium of the club where he began his playing career (Ajax Amsterdam) was renamed the Johan Cruyff ArenA.
This sports venue, inaugurated in 1996, had the distinction of being the first stadium in Europe with a retractable roof. Since then, it has hosted major sporting events, including the 1998 Champions League final, matches from the 2000 European Championship, and the 2013 Europa League final.
The tour of the Johan Cruyff Arena lasts approximately 75 minutes and is self-guided, following the commentary provided by an audio guide in English.
During the tour, you’ll have access to the following areas of the museum:
Throughout the stadium, you’ll encounter various members of the Johan Cruyff ArenA staff, whom you can ask in English if you have any questions.
The tour of the Johan Cruyff ArenA takes place every day at the time you select when making your reservation. However, the tour is not offered on days when an event, whether sporting or cultural, is being held at the stadium. We recommend you check the official AFC Ajax website before you visit.
