By booking the Assisi Private Tour you'll have an exclusive English guide at your disposal to learn about the history of Saint Francis of Assisi, and discover why this city is such an important place of pilgrimage.
The Assisi private tour will start outside the Basilica of St. Clare. We'll spend 3 hours walking around the city stopping to see the main monuments and any other points of interest you may find interesting.
First, we'll visit the two jewels of the city, the Upper Basilica of St. Francis of Assisi and the Lower Basilica of St. Francis. Declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2000, this place of worship was constructed in honour of the founder of the Franciscan order and is a must-see visit for those staying in the Perugia region.
For about 1 hour 30 minutes, we'll discover the numerous chapels that form the sanctuary and the crypt containing the mortal remains of St. Francis.
The tour will continue to the Temple of Minerva, located in the popular Piazza del Comune. Although it currently functions as a church, the origins of this place are more related to the Old Roman Empire. You'll discover this and much more during the visit.
Afterwards, we'll go to the Chiesa Nuova, an important place of worship as it was built on the site of the former family home of St. Francis of Assisi.
The tour will end by learning more about the history of the city and the life that St. Francis led in this Italian town.
By booking this private tour you'll not only enjoy a personalised service with an English speaking guide, but you can also book it any day of the week with several schedules to choose from. Also, if you're a large group, you'll save money!
Sightseeing tours of the Basilica of St. Francis of Assisi aren't permitted on Sundays. The guide will explain everything you need to know about this temple from the outside and then you can enter on your own without any problems. The same will happen on Italian holidays and other Catholic holidays such as Christmas and Easter Sunday.
You can book up to 1 day in advance if there are any seats left. Book now and guarantee your spot.
