Rio De Janeiro, BrazilWe loved the workshop. We learned the history behind the city's traditional sweet treat, and we also got to make and taste it.
If you're visiting the so-called "Portuguese Venice", there's one taste you absolutely can't miss. In this Ovos Moles workshop in Aveiro, we'll uncover the secrets behind this centuries-old delicacy and learn to make them with our own hands.
At the designated time, we'll meet at number 23 Rua João Mendonça, home to a space dedicated to preserving Aveiro's pastry-making tradition. Did you know the Ovos Moles recipe dates back to the 16th century? Let's find out more!
We'll kick off the workshop by diving into the history and origins of this sweet treat, born in the convents of the region. Once we've got the traditional recipe down, it's time to get our hands dirty with the practical part of the workshop.
We'll learn the technique of filling the wafers with the egg yolk and sugar mixture. Once that's done, we'll discover how to cut them into the distinctive shell and fish shapes that make this Protected Geographical Indication product so special.
To round off this sweet experience in the best way possible, we'll sit down to taste the freshly made Ovos Moles. You'll feel them melt on your tongue!
After 30 minutes of the workshop, we'll wrap up the activity.
