Located on the famous Museum Island, one of the most iconic places in the German capital, the Berlin Cathedral, or Berliner Dom for the locals, is the city's main Christian worship center.
With your ticket to the Berlin Cathedral, you can tour this sacred space with an audio guide in English. The temple was built between 1894 and 1905 and using the architectural influences of the Neo-Renaissance and Neo-Baroque styles.
During your visit to the Berlin Cathedral, you can see the majestic staircase leading to the Imperial Box used by Wilhelm II of Prussia. It was precisely the last emperor of Germany who ordered the construction of the temple.
Another of the most striking elements of the interior of the Berliner Dom is the so-called voice of God. The famous Sauer organ, a masterpiece of more than 7,000 pipes created during the late Romanticism period, has become a symbol of German musical culture.
Meanwhile, in the basement of the cathedral, you'll find the crypt of the Hohenzollern, which houses more than 90 tombs of the members of this powerful dynasty. The sarcophagi, which cover a wide period from the 16th to the 20th century, are true jewels of funerary art.
To end your visit on a high note, climb up to the dome of the Berlin Cathedral, whose access you have included with your ticket. Of course, you'll have to walk up the 270 steps leading to the viewpoint at the top! The effort will be worth it, as you're welcomed by sweeping panoramas of the German capital, making it a picture-perfect moment.
The Berlin Cathedral is open during the following times:
Children under 18 years of age are admitted free of charge to the Berlin Cathedral. They do not need a ticket, but must be accompanied by an adult and are not entitled to an audio guide.
