On this truffle tour in Cadenet, try your hand at foraging the elusive black fungus and savor diverse Provençal products with the idyllic backdrop of the Luberon. Don't miss out on this genuine rural experience!
At the indicated time, we'll kick off this Provençal rural experience at the Les Pastras de Cadenet farm.
First, we'll visit an authentic Provençal truffle plantation as we enjoy the surrounding area in the middle of the Luberon Regional Natural Park. Throughout the tour, we'll see the truffle dogs expertly sniffing the ground, hunting for these highly prized black mushrooms revered in gastronomy.
Walking with the dogs in search of the coveted "black gold," we'll gain insight into distinguishing the Provençal variety, Tuber melanosporum, from other truffle varieties cultivated in Asia. We'll uncover the curious history of smugglers involved in the trade of this fungus, known for commanding exorbitant prices.
As the tour continues, we'll receive valuable tips on the proper cleaning, storage, and cooking techniques for truffles. When handled correctly, these mushrooms transform into a culinary delicacy, infusing numerous recipes with a unique flavor. Let's explore and savor these culinary delights together!
We'll cap off this 3-hour rural escapade with a delicious finale—a tasting of truffle hors d'oeuvres complemented by the richness of organic truffle oil. Enhance your experience even further and pair these indulgent treats with a Provençal champagne. Cheers to an unforgettable exploration of flavors!
