Morella Day Trip
We'll meet at the indicated time at the Tourist Office of Castellón de la Plana and then head towards the capital of the Els Ports region: Morella. Are you ready to explore a fairytale town? Let's go!
After a scenic hour-and-a-half drive, we'll arrive in this charming town. Our first stop will be to admire the majestic castle of Morella, perched on top an imposing rock. Following that, we’ll begin our guided tour of the old town, entering through the iconic towers of San Miguel.
During the tour, we'll pass by notable landmarks like the 14th-century Town Hall building and the elegant manor houses. We'll also stop at a local honey shop, where those interested can purchase this traditional Morella product. Perfect as a souvenir!
We'll conclude our visit with a tour of the Archpriestly Basilica of Santa Maria, a stunning example of Valencian Gothic and Renaissance architecture. Inside, we'll admire remarkable sights like the Churrigueresque-style High Altar, which features a depiction of the Lignum Crucis being presented to King James II. We’ll also take in the intricate decoration of the choir staircase, a highlight of the basilica.
After visiting the basilica, you'll have 2 hours of free time in the heart of Morella to enjoy lunch and explore the town's most picturesque streets at your own pace. Finally, we'll regroup and head back to our original meeting point in Castellón, wrapping up this 10-hour day trip.
