Discover one of the monumental jewels of the Community of Madrid with this private tour of San Lorenzo de El Escorial – an exclusive route just for you and your partner, family or friends!
When booking, you can choose between 2 different tours. In both cases, we can start the private tour from your hotel or from a central point in El Escorial, the choice is yours!
If you want to focus your tour on the Royal Monastery of San Lorenzo de El Escorial, this 2-hour private tour is ideal for you. We'll dedicate this time to exploring this architectural and artistic jewel that was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Inside this great enclosure from the 16th century, built by order of the Spanish monarch Felipe II, we'll visit its most famous rooms and galleries. Among them, two wings of the royal building stand out: the Palace of Felipe II and the Palace of the Bourbons, the latter decorated in the 18th-century style. We'll also visit the famous library of the El Escorial monastery and the Crypt where most of the kings and queens of the Hispanic Monarchy have rested since Charles I.
We'll also discover the Battle Room and the Basilica of El Escorial, which like the rest of the monumental complex was designed by Juan de Herrera, King Felipe II's trusted architect. The monarch left nothing to chance and, as we'll discover during the visit, it's even believed that he actively participated in this great architectural project.
If in addition to visiting the famous monument, you also want to learn about the history of the town of San Lorenzo de El Escorial, this 3-hour tour is the solution.
We can start with a short walk through the old town, where the Casa del Alcalde Mayor or the Real Coliseo Carlos III stands out. Did you know that the latter is one of the oldest indoor theatres in Spain?
After visiting the town, we'll continue this private tour of San Lorenzo de El Escorial by visiting its monumental emblem: the famous monastery. You'll be fascinated!
