On this private tour to Auschwitz and the Salt Mines, you'll visit the largest Nazi concentration camp accompanied by an English-speaking guide to learn about the atrocities that took place there during World War II.
Auschwitz and Salt Mine Private Tour
We'll pick you up at your hotel in Krakow at the scheduled time and drive to Auschwitz. In just over an hour, we'll arrive at one of the main sites of the Nazi Holocaust, the Auschwitz-Birkenau concentration camp.
Once there, we'll begin a private tour in English of the largest Nazi extermination camp built in World War II. During the tour, we'll pass through the prison blocks, converted into exhibition halls, gas chambers, and crematorium ovens. In these haunting locations, we'll learn about the cruel methods used by the SS guards to humiliate, punish, and slaughter over one million people.
Then we'll visit Auschwitz II-Birkenau, where the train tracks on which Jews, Romi people, homosexuals, Spanish Republicans, and other prisoners arrived to await their tragic fate.
After the tour, you'll have about 40 minutes of free time, and then we'll move to the town of Wieliczka, where you'll have an hour and a half to have lunch at your leisure.
Afterwards, we'll visit the Salt Mines, a spectacular underground complex with over 20 galleries. We'll see lakes and halls that house sculptures and bas-reliefs made of salt blocks and the chapel of St. Kinga– its decoration is made entirely of salt.
After leaving the mines, we'll take you back to your hotel in Krakow. Arrival is scheduled around 10 hours after the initial pickup.
Why Book a Private Tour?
By booking a private tour, you'll enjoy a more customized service. Plus, if you're a large group, you'll save money too.
Group Size, Guides, & Documentation
- When booking, please make sure the name you enter matches your ID exactly. Any discrepancy may result in being denied entry to Auschwitz.
- Visits to the camp can only be conducted by official guides accredited by the museum itself, not by external guides. Guide confirmation is only guaranteed between 12 and 16 hours before the activity.
- All operators require a minimum group size to access the camp with a guide. If this minimum is not reached, the activity may be cancelled or rescheduled.
- On our end, tickets and a guide are secured as soon as the minimum group size is reached. However, for last-minute bookings, guides may not be available and the activity could be cancelled.
- If, for any reason, the Auschwitz-Birkenau Museum does not confirm the private visit, the local team will get in touch to offer alternative options. If none of the proposed alternatives are suitable, you may cancel your booking free of charge and book the group visit instead, which is generally available more frequently.
- In the event of cancellation, a non-refundable charge of 38EUR per person will apply, as this corresponds to the cost of the Salt Mine admission ticket.
Reservation Confirmation & Cancellations
- The activity will be considered definitively confirmed once you receive a detailed description of the service from the provider, along with the hotel pickup time.
- A private tour of the Auschwitz-Birkenau Museum is always subject to final confirmation and the operational availability of the Museum itself.
- On certain dates throughout the year, exceptional circumstances may arise, such as a high concentration of school groups, official visits, or institutional delegations, as well as unforeseen absences of Museum staff due to health issues or other organizational reasons. These types of visits and the Museum’s internal needs may take priority over private reservations and, in exceptional cases, may affect the previously scheduled availability.
- For this reason, even if all necessary arrangements have been made in advance, it may happen in exceptional cases that the Museum is unable to confirm the private tour or that a tour initially planned cannot ultimately take place under the requested conditions for reasons entirely beyond the provider’s control. In such a situation, the local team will contact you immediately and do everything reasonably possible to offer an alternative solution that will allow the tour of the Auschwitz-Birkenau Memorial to take place.
- Possible alternatives may include a change in time, a different date, a different type of tour, or joining a group tour, always subject to availability at that time. Only if there are no possible alternatives or if none of the proposed options are suitable may the reservation be canceled, and a refund will be issued for the services that ultimately cannot be provided.
- These situations are exceptional and occur only a few times a year, but they depend on decisions, operational circumstances, or force majeure situations related to the Auschwitz-Birkenau Museum and are therefore beyond the local team's control.
