Unlock the best views of Japan's ancient capital with a ticket to Kyoto Tower, the tallest building in the city and a must-visit for anyone exploring Kyoto!
If you want to admire the city of Kyoto from the best possible location, look no further than Kyoto Tower! Standing 131 metres (429 feet) tall, Kyoto Tower offers the most stunning panoramic views of Kyoto and even as far as Osaka! Completed in 1964, the same year Japan hosted the Tokyo Olympics and launched the Shinkansen bullet train, this tower symbolises a fusion of tradition and modernisation in Japan.
Designed by architect Mamoru Yamada in collaboration with Kyoto University, Kyoto Tower's unique sail-like structure was crafted to withstand earthquakes and typhoons, making it not only a sight to behold but also a feat of engineering. With your ticket, you'll explore a building filled with restaurants, souvenir shops, and even the Tower Kyoto Hotel, all beneath the observation deck that promises breathtaking views.
Perched 100 metres (328 feet) above the ground, the observation deck at Kyoto Tower offers unrivalled views of the city. From this vantage point, you can spot iconic UNESCO World Heritage Sites such as Kiyomizu-dera Temple, Tō-ji Temple, and Hongan-ji, alongside other famous landmarks like Chion-in Temple and Sanjūsangen-dō. Each monument you see will reveal the striking contrast between Kyoto’s ancient temples and its modern skyline.
On clear days, the deck also offers breathtaking views of the Osaka skyline in the distance. It’s no surprise that Kyoto Tower is one of the top locations to witness a spectacular sunset. Be sure to use the telescopes available on the observation deck for an even closer look at the city’s stunning landscape.
Kyoto Tower is open daily from 10 am to 9 pm. Final admission is at 8:30 pm.
Please note that you must buy tickets for children aged 3 to 5 directly at Kyoto Tower.
