Admire the baroque art of one of the most beautiful cities in Puglia on a private tour of Martina Franca. A professional guide will be working just for you and your companions.
We'll meet up in picturesque Piazza XX Settembre square, where we'll begin our fantastic walking tour of the historic center of Martina Franca. This route will immerse us in the fascinating history of this beautiful town in the Puglia region.
We'll pass through the San Stefano Gate, one of the baroque porticoes of the ancient city walls. We'll then stroll through the street until we reach Piazza Roma square, where we'll admire the façade of the magnificent Palazzo Ducale, where the Caracciolo family once lived. We'll tell you about the great power that these dukes held during the glory years of Martina Franca.
We'll continue walking until we reach Piazza del Plebiscito, where the Basilica of San Martino, one of the city's true treasures, awaits us. It was built in the 18th century to replace an earlier Romanesque church that had fallen into ruin after an earthquake. The Baroque façade of this amazing temple will grab your attention.
In the Piazza del Plebiscito square, you'll also find the University of Martina Franca and the iconic clock tower. Afterward, we will continue walking through the narrow streets of this city and admiring its baroque and rococo palaces. Remember to bring your camera to capture a permanent memory of these monuments!
After two hours of walking, we'll finish the tour next to the beautiful church of San Domenico.
