With these tickets to the Arena of Nîmes, you'll visit one of the best-preserved Roman amphitheatres in southern France with an audio guide in English. A must for history lovers!
The Ancient Transalpine Gaul, later known as the Gallia Narbonensis, left numerous Roman remains in south-eastern France. These include several amphitheatres where, as in the Colosseum in Rome, gladiator fights and other public spectacles were held.
With your ticket to the Arena of Nîmes, you can explore the best-preserved Roman amphitheatre in southern France at your leisure. It's undoubtedly a jewel of the imperial era, reflecting the splendour that this area, located some 60 km (37 mi) from the Mare Nostrum, the present-day Mediterranean Sea, once enjoyed.
The ticket to access this ancient amphitheatre includes an audio guide in English that will allow you to learn about the history of the Arena and the shows that took place there. Fights between men and animals, gladiator battles, wild animal hunts where only the man or the animal could survive... You'll discover which ones were the most popular!
Today, the Arena of Nîmes is one of the main bullrings in France. In addition to bullfights, concerts are also held in this venue. Artists such as Dua Lipa and David Gilmour, a member of the band Pink Floyd, have performed here.
If, as well as exploring the Arena of Nîmes, you’d like to visit some of the town's other major monuments, you can book a ticket that includes the Maison Carrée Roman temple and the Tour Magne, a watchtower that will transport you back to the city’s Augustan era.
What’s more, you’ll have 3 days to visit these monuments (the day of booking and the following 2 days). This gives you complete freedom to decide which monument to visit at any given time or to spend a whole day at each site. The best way to discover the wealth of monuments in Nîmes!
All of the options available include an audio guide to help you learn about the history of these monuments.
The opening hours for the monuments in Nîmes are as follows:
