Located just an hour's train ride from Rome, Orvieto is one of the must-see places on your list when visiting Italy. The tour begins at the meeting point Piazza Cahen.
We'll begin by wandering through Orvieto's main streets and many squares. A charming city awaits you with its impressive cathedral which dates back to the 14th century and is a perfect example of Italian Gothic architecture.
Crossing the city we'll find the famous Moro Tower which was the symbol of power in Orvieto for centuries. Built as a surveillance system for the lands of this region, the tower is 47 metres (155 feet) high and is visible from many points around the historic centre.
During the tour, we'll also see the exterior of the Albornoz Fortress and Rocca di San Martino. You'll be surprised by the Pozo di San Patricio, a deep excavation built to ensure the city's water supply in case of a siege.
The tour will end after a two-hour pleasant walk and getting to know the main tourist attractions around Orvieto. We'll discover the history of this city built on volcanic soil hundreds of years ago.
By booking this private tour you'll not only enjoy a personalised service with an English speaking guide, but you can also book it any day of the week with several schedules to choose from. Also, if you're a large group, you'll save money!
To enter places of worship there is a certain dress code, sleeveless clothing and shorts are not permitted. Both men and women must cover their knees and shoulders in order to enter churches and temples.
