With your tickets to the baths of Caracalla, you'll discover one of the largest and most majestic thermal complexes in the Roman Empire. Over 2000 years of history in the “Eternal City!” Plus, you won't miss any details thanks to the included audio guide in English.
Built under the commission of Septimio Severo y Caracalla, these imperial baths were inaugurated in the year 216 A.C. and were operating until the year 537 A.C. Can you imagine how the water was heated so many centuries ago? Thanks to an ingenious underground heating system, known as a hypocaust, this site offered hot baths to thousands of Romans. It's a masterpiece in ancient engineering! Are you ready to discover it?
With these tickets to the Baths of Caracalla, you'll explore every corner of this fascinating site. Plus, the audio guide in English will guide you to 17 points of interest, revealing the significance this complex had in the daily life of Ancient Rome as a leisure and social center. You'll discover where the pools, gymnasiums, and massage rooms were, and marvel at the mosaics and artworks that remain.
You'll also see how some of the materials of the Baths of Caracalla were later reused to build the famous St. Peter's Basilica. Rome's history is conveyed on each stone!
To access the Baths of Caracalla is the entrance to the monument, located at the following address: Viale delle Terme di Caracalla, 52.
