Discover the Portuguese 'Versailles' with this admission ticket to the National Palace of Queluz. Go back in time and explore its lavish royal rooms and its fairytale-like gardens.
The National Palace of Queluz is one of the most beautiful buildings in all of Portugal. Located in the municipality of Sintra, this luxurious palace was built in Baroque style by order of Peter III when he was still an infant. After his marriage to the heir to the throne, Princess Mary, the building was then considered a royal palace.
The monarch commissioned the remodeling of the palace to the French architect Jean-Baptiste Robillion, who transformed it following the style of the famous Palace of Versailles. Queluz was for centuries the core of the Portuguese court and its intrigue, and soirees and balls were held in its lavish halls and gardens. In present day, it's used as a residence for foreign heads of State visiting Portugal.
The palace gardens are decorated with fountains and mythological sculptures and are an amazing example of landscape harmony. Currently, they house the headquarters of the School of Equestrian Art. In fact, this rehabilitation project was granted in 2018 the European Union Prize for Cultural Heritage and the Europa Nostra Award.
With this ticket, you'll be able to relive some of the historical events that the National Palace of Queluz has been witness to by visiting the Throne Room, the Music Room, or the Ambassadors Room, as well as the royal chambers and rooms.
The National Palace of Queluz and its gardens are open Monday to Sunday at the following times:
These schedules are subject to change and may vary.
