Barcelona, SpainIf you'd like to explore France's Little Rome, our Arles Private Tour is perfect for you! You'll see the city's main monuments and discover its fascinating history accompanied by an expert guide just for your group.
At the indicated time, we'll meet in front of the tourist office in Arles to start a walking tour of the historic centre of this town in the South of France.
During our private tour of Arles, we'll walk through the old town and stop in front of its most emblematic monuments to reveal its history and many of its curiosities. Moreover, as this is a personalised tour, you'll be able to tell the guide which places you're most interested in visiting.
We'll start the guided tour by approaching the exterior of the Arles Amphitheatre, one of the best preserved Roman amphitheatres in the world. Here, we'll talk about the gladiatorial fights that took place in this 1st century arena.
Next, we'll see the structure of the ancient theatre, which will allow us to delve into the art and culture of the Roman Empire. Of course, we must not forget the Obélisque d'Arles, a red granite construction that stands imposingly on the Place de la République. On this esplanade, you'll also see the Town Hall.
Afterwards, we can stop at the Church of St Trophime, a World Heritage Site. There, we'll look at the Romanesque details of the façade of this 12th century temple.
Of course, we'll also have time to talk about the famous Vincent Van Gogh, who lived in Arles for a little more than a year, during which he painted around 200 paintings! We'll see the most famous places he portrayed in his paintings, such as the famous Café de la Nuit.
After 2 hours of sightseeing, we'll end our private tour of Arles by returning to the starting point.
