On this guided tour of Caldas da Rainha, we'll discover the tranquillity of this town in the Centre of Portugal and its most outstanding monuments. Let's go!
At the indicated time, we'll meet at the Tourist Office to start this guided tour of Caldas da Rainha.
First of all, we'll stroll through the local market, known as the Praça da Fruta. This iconic space is located on the town's most important street. Believe it or not, this market has been operating since the 15th century. Isn't that amazing?
Nearby is our next destination, the Hospital Termal, considered one of the oldest spas in Portugal. The history we'll tell you inside the hospital is very interesting, so don't miss any details. To give you an insight into its interesting history, here are some fun facts: it's more than 5 centuries old, it was founded in 1485 by Queen Leonor, and it has spooky corridors.
There are many delicacies to taste in Caldas. During the tour, we'll enter a pastry shop, where you can taste traditional desserts such as cavacas and beijinhos.
Just a few steps away is our next stop, the romantic Dom Carlos I Park, which dates back to the 19th century. We'll take a stroll around this peaceful spot and show you everything hidden in its gardens. Today it's one of the meeting points for the locals. Did you know that it is closely linked to the Hospital Termal?
Crossing the park we'll visit the Water Garden, where we'll end our 2-hour tour.
