The British Museum's collections span across different eras of human history, offering a unique opportunity to admire some of the most extraordinary artefacts and works of art from around the globe. Begin your journey in the Egyptian galleries, where you'll see the legendary Rosetta Stone, instrumental in decoding Egyptian hieroglyphs. You'll also get to see hauntingly preserved mummies that reveal ancient burial customs. Don't miss the towering statue of Ramesses II, a testament to Egypt's ancient might.
Next, head to the Greek and Roman galleries, where you can marvel at the Parthenon sculptures, once part of Athens' grand temple, and the celebrated Discobolus statue, symbolising ancient Greek athletic prowess. As you continue, you'll be immersed in the grandeur of the Roman Empire, with its stunning statues and intricate mosaics that illustrate the art and culture of this historic civilisation.
Be sure to check out the Lion of Knidos, a breathtaking example of ancient Greek artistry that once stood guard over the harbour of Knidos. The lifelike detail in this marble sculpture is sure to amaze you.
