Explore the spectacular Basque coastline on this day trip to Bilbao and San Juan de Gaztelugatxe, where you'll visit Dragonstone from the hit series Game of Thrones.

Day Trip Details

We'll meet at the meeting point that you choose to leave San Sebastián behind and set off to the Basque Coast. Ready?

After a journey of around 2 hours, we'll reach our first stop of the day: San Juan de Gaztelugatxe. Here, we'll admire the iconic chapel perched above the Cantabrian Sea, a scene fans of Game of Thrones are sure to instantly recognise it as Dragonstone.

You’ll hear the waves crashing against the cliffs and enjoy breathtaking views as we explore the ancient stronghold of House Targaryen and the spectacular beauty of this spot on the Bermeo coast.

We'll continue our day trip to Bilbao, where we'll go on a guided tour of its most important spots. We'll pass by the Old Town Viejo, admire the Teatro Arriaga, the Plaza Nueva, the Church of San Antón, and the area of Abando. During the tour, you'll understand how the maritime tradition and the industrial past coexist today with the city's surprising contemporary architecture.

Lastly, we'll provide an introduction to the Guggenheim Museum, and, depending on the option you chose, you'll have time to visit it.

Finally, after a total of 9 hours, we'll return to the meeting point in San Sebastián.

Day Trip Options

During the booking process, you can choose from the following options:

Standard Day Trip Without Guggenheim Ticket: if you choose this option, we will depart from the Paseo de Federico García Lorca. This option includes transportation, a guide, and a guided tour of Gaztelugatxe and the center of Bilbao. At midday, you can have lunch on your own. This is ideal if you prefer to see the museum only from the outside and enjoy more free time in the city.
Standard Day Trip With Guggenheim Ticket: this option includes everything in the previous option and has the same meeting point. After the exterior explanation of Frank Gehry's architecture, you will enter the museum with an audio guide to visit the exhibitions at your own pace before returning to San Sebastián.
Small-Group Day Trip with Guggenheim Ticket: this is the most comprehensive and intimate option, as it is conducted in a small group of a maximum of 8 people. In this option, in addition to what is included in the previous option, you will have the pickup and drop-off to your hotel in San Sebastián, as well as a traditional lunch (selection of pintxos or set menu with a glass of wine).
